Now, for the good stuff!
In most cases, it’s highly unlikely that CBD oil will cause a positive test result in a drug screening. This is because most drug tests are designed to test for the presence of THC or THC metabolites. There are different types of drug tests that have varying detection thresholds for THC. However, the most common is a urine test. Urine tests typically have a lower threshold for detection.
Most employers generally follow the guidelines presented in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHSA), which includes detection for THC but not CBD. Under the SAMHSA framework, the limit for THC is 50 nanograms per millilitre. A nanogram is one-billionth of a gram.
It’s also important to know that hemp-derived CBD products are legally allowed to contain up to 0.3% THC. However, this is not a cause for alarm. This amount of THC won’t cause a false positive result on a drug test unless you are consuming an insane amount. You would need to take a dosage of about 1,000 to 2,000 milligrams per day of full-spectrum CBD oil to risk a positive drug test result.
If you’re still not sold and want to be absolutely safe, we recommend you buy a broad-spectrum oil or products that contain pure CBD isolate. Broad-spectrum oil is refined to exclude THC from hemp plants, while CBD isolates contain no THC or other plant-based cannabinoids.
To ensure that your CBD contains no THC, it’s essential to source products from reputable producers that provide a certificate of analysis from a third-party testing lab.
